Artist Statement:
The work I create focuses on people, places, and situations I find interesting or inspiring. I see art as a mirror of the artist's imagination and reality. In my art, I attempt to go beyond the likeness of the subject to a level of truth that a likeness is unable to reveal. I use composition to render the concept of the subject, I use color, line, and value to express the emotional meaning.

In regard to style, I believe the term is overrated and often a misnomer for art itself. Art is complicated and involves many factors. Style on the other hand is merely a means to convey the image at hand. I use style to affirm the essence of my subject. As a result, my style ranges from careful methodical practices to liberal expressive approaches. I perceive my best work as a blend of the two. I see style as a component that should be allowed to change and redirect. In too many cases, because of today's over concern with consistence in style, many works have been smothered or made to be something they are not. Many painters have over-concerned themselves to the point, they are making the same painting over and over again, just to maintain what they conceive as acceptable range.
