The Studio Arts is an evolving online archive of artwork created by Monty Helm. The work presented here was created from 1979 to the present. Helm has exhibited primarily in the United States, as well as in collaborative exhibitions in Europe.
Helm states, “I’ve enjoyed a long and productive career as an artist. I’ve covered a lot of ground and worked in a range of media, creating pieces from large-scale installations to works on canvas and paper, as well as digital art. It’s all linked together through a vision I’ve developed over the years, interpreting people, places, and things in a very personal manner.”
Helm’s academic studies include an MFA from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, graduate study at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College. In addition to his studio work, Helm has developed and taught in numerous art programs throughout the Midwest and northern United States. His current studio is located in Minnesota.
