Search for a particular work of art that will initiate your paper. Examine and research the artwork. Discuss the significance and history of the piece.

Continue your paper with a presentation of the artist. Utilize the criteria listed below in the writing of your research paper. The paper should be 6 pages double-spaced; include a bibliography and cite your sources throughout the paper.

Criteria:
1. Biographical information. Specific period, locality, social/economic background...
2. Imagery (subject matter).
3. Iconography (symbolic meaning of the artwork/s).
4. Media.
5. Patrons.
6. Major influences and/or teachers.
7. Masterwork/s and significant works.
8. Innovations and contributions.

Sources: Utilize three or more book sources in your research. Limit your Internet sources. A paper primarily based on Internet sources will be marked down 2 letter grades. Include examples of the artist's work in your presentation.

Course value: 28%
Grading: Content as stated above 90%; bibliography 10%.
